The daughter of Portuguese immigrants, Ramana Vieira was born and raised in the Bay Area. Like many children of immigrants, Ramana grew up not knowing a lot about her ancestral culture. In her late 20s, she began intensive training in Portuguese and learned to sing fado. She had found her cultural identity.
She was selected as a one of a handful of artists who created a video to be played before medal ceremonies at the 2006 Winter Olympics. ?She is gifted with a voice that is both breathtaking and intoxicating.
